BAUMHOLDER, Germany — Smith Elementary School had a special touchdown this week when Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders and Fritz the Falcon brought sports spirit and storytelling fun to kindergarten students.

Sponsored by the USO, the visit combined the excitement of football with the magic of reading. The highlight of the event was a group reading of Mo Willems’ beloved book A Big Guy Took My Ball!, which had students laughing and listening closely as Fritz the Falcon acted out scenes with playful gestures and animated flair. The cheerleaders joined in, helping bring the story to life with warmth and energy.

Beyond the fun, the visit emphasized teamwork, kindness, and the joy of reading—values that connect both the playing field and the classroom. Students were thrilled to meet the cheerleaders and mascot, leaving with smiles and a renewed excitement for books.
