Bulldog Olympics at Smith Elementary: A Celebration of Teamwork and Movement
Bulldogs at Smith Elementary brought the excitement of the Winter Olympics to life during a special event in the Physical Education program. Ms. Figueroa transformed into a lively arena where every class had the chance to experience Olympic‑inspired activities designed to build teamwork, confidence, and a love of movement.
Throughout the unit, students rotated through stations modeled after classic Winter Olympic events. They practiced balance and coordination on the “speed skating” course, tested their aim in a safe and creative version of “curling,” and worked together in relay‑style “bobsled” challenges. Each activity was adapted for elementary learners, ensuring that all students could participate successfully while staying active and having fun.
Students cheered for one another, encouraged classmates to try new skills, and celebrated effort just as much as achievement. The games highlighted sportsmanship, perseverance, and the importance of staying active—values that mirror the spirit of the real Olympic Games.
By the end of the event, students left the gym smiling, energized, and proud of what they accomplished. The Winter Olympics at Smith Elementary not only brought a burst of excitement to the PE program, but also reminded students that movement can be joyful, creative, and something we can all share together.
